Robert “Gene” Kern

Robert “Gene” Kern, 63, of Paragould, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, after an accident at his home. Born in Danville, Illinois to Robert Dean Kern and Pauline Elizabeth Hines Kern on August 6, 1954, he was the oldest of six children. Gene entered the United States Air Force in 1972, where he served for 20 years, retiring in 1992.

In 1973 he married Beth Grider and they had two children. In 1990 he married Julie Watson Humblet and added two more children to the family.

Gene was the type of person who never met a stranger and was liked by everyone he met. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Julie, he is survived by his children: daughter Emily (Bryan) Dunham. Adam (Lynsie)Humblet, Ryan (Amanda) Kern, and Aaron Humblet (Christy Ashlin); thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers Richard (Robert) Kern-Kurek, Wesley (Brenda) Kern, Monte Kern; sisters Teresa (Herb) Norton, Penny (Jeff) Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Gene’s wish was to be cremated and for there to be no funeral service. There will be a casual celebration of life in his home town of Olivet, IL at the Nazarene Church on Sunday, June 3 at 2 pm. Guest registry:www.faithfuneralservice.net
