Mabel Odell Davidson

Mabel Odell Davidson, 90, of Manila, passed from this life Saturday, March 10, 2018, at her home. Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Childress, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Effie Bazzill Rickard and had lived most of her life in Manila. A 1945 graduate of Manila High School, she had worked for the former Ely Walker Garment Company in Manila and later she and her husband operated as team drivers for Bush Canning Company. She was a longtime member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, R.L. Rickard, one sister, Melva Weatherford, two sons, Dennis Parker and Dave Allen Davidson, and one daughter, Phyllis Stout.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, R.A. Davidson of Manila; two sons, John L. Parker of Tyler, Texas, and

James Glenn Davidson of Manila; one daughter, Lora Kaye Grossman, of Mission, Texas; one sister, Opal Thacker of Warren, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. J. Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
