Anne Pauline Smith, 98, of Cardwell, Mo., passed from this life Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett. She was born Jan. 23, 1920 in Arbyrd, Mo., to the late T.C. and Julia Grace Sando McHaney moving shortly thereafter to Leachville along with her four sisters and four brothers. She married Birton Ray Smith April 16, 1941. Anne attended the Memphis School of Commerce and worked as a secretary and saleslady. She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. English's Clinic in Cardwell for 12 years before returning to LPN school at the age of 50. She finished her career in nursing at the Senath Nursing Home at the age of 80. Anne enjoyed working in her yard, working crossword puzzles and tending her many beautiful flowers. She had been a member of the Arbyrd Baptist Church and was later a member of Cardwell Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her four sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include four daughters, Susan Hudson of Stone Mountain, Ga., Karen Taylor (Whiz) of Cardwell, Mo., Betty Allen of Stockbridge, Ga., and Joanne Bush (Tim) of Clarkston, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jessica Mayer (Zack), Jason Taylor, Vivian Taylor, Valerie Lipscomb (Gene), Jennifer Allen, and four great-grandchildren, Caroline and Carson Lipscomb and Hannah and Kirsten Mayer.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery near Paragould.

The family will receive visitors Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
