Brother Arthur Lee Thomas, Sr., 80, of Blytheville went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Great River Medical Center after a well-spent life; another solider gone to get his great reward.

He and his twin bother Archie were born March 11, 1937 in Hughes to John and Parilee Harris Thomas. He was educated in the Hughes Public School and was a God-fearing man that loved the Lord, confessing his hope in Christ at an early age at his grandmother’s house. Brother Thomas was a devoted member of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Dr. Charles Thomas, where he served as a deacon and as a trustee.

Arthur was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling and could sleep all day when he wasn’t working.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Flora Thomas of the home; a daughter, Ms. Clarice Thomas of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas; five sons, Arthur (Rose) Thomas of Hughes, Dennis (Kelly) Thomas of West Memphis, Russell (Arnella) Thomas of Little Rock, Michael (Sandra) Thomas of Atlanta, Ga. and Lee Andrew Thomas of Germany; seven sisters, Mrs. Icy Mae (James) Harris, Mrs. Pearl (Oscar) Thomas and Mrs. Sarah Cook, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Clara Weatherspoon and Mrs. Ruth Lucas, both of Arizona, and Mrs. Easter (Harvey) Overton of Columbus, Mo. and Mrs. Noralene Thomas of Wisconsin; two brothers, Clarence Wyatt Jr of Forrest City and Daniel Wyatt of Chicago; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Brother Arthur Lee Thomas, Sr. will be conducted on Monday February 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ, 1108 David Lane, in Blytheville. Dr. Charles Thomas will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow at Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 5, 2018 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m.
