Joe Paschal Baker, of Pauls Valley, Okla., passed away Dec. 23, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 60 years. Joe was born April 5, 1957, in Paragould, Ark., to Lee Allen and Berniece (Holsclaw) Baker. He was raised in Manila, and is a graduate of Manila High School. He came to make Pauls Valley his home in 1978. On Feb. 21, 1984, he was married to Shelia Dawn Looney in Pauls Valley, at the Pentecostal Church of God. Much of his career has been in the oil fields and he had worked for Halliburton and for Coffeyville Resources in Pauls Valley. He was a member of Light of the World Pentecostal Church of God.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Allen and Berniece Baker; a sister, Marsha Baker Miller; and his father and mother-in-law, Rita Looney and Leon Looney.

Surviving family include his wife of over 33 years, Shelia Baker of the home; two children, Rita Elizabeth Baker-Smith and husband, Patrick; and Joseph Baker and his fiance, Tamara Welcher, all of Pauls Valley, Okla.; three grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Zander Smith and Adelynn Baker; brothers, Tommy Baker of Bryant, Barry Baker and Kerry Baker, both of Manila; sister, LaQuita Sutton and husband, Jeff, of Pauls Valley, Okla.; niece, Amber Sutton; great-niece, Sutton Faith Osborn, both of Pauls Valley, Okla.; nephew, Jared Sutton of Stillwater, Okla.; niece, Tommie Sue Andrews of Tucson, Ariz.; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were Joseph Baker, Patrick Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jeff Sutton, Jared Sutton and Sebastian Cifuentes.

The family requests memorials be sent or dropped off at the First United Bank and Trust, 315 W. Grant in Pauls Valley, Okla. 73075, where a medical fund has been set up in his name.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Charles Ledbetter. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
