Mr. Rodney Poff, Sr.

Mr. Rodney Poff, Sr., 75, of Gosnell, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home.

Rodney was born in Marie to Lloyd and Bertha (Forshee) Poff. He was the owner and operator of Poff’s Roof Service and was of the Baptist faith. Rodney was an avid rabbit hunter and liked to play cards and dominoes. He was known for hanging out a Poff’s Grocery with his father and brothers, often shaping the minds of all who entered.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Poff; son, Larry Courtney; four brothers, Ansel, Cecil, Frankie and Glenn Poff; and sister, Bonita Garner.

Rodney leaves six children, Rodney Poff, Jr. and his wife Audrey of Jonesboro, Amanda Parish and her husband Justin of Franklin, Arkansas, Tracy Courtney of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Beth Ann Mettera of St. Augustine, Florida, Becky Smothers and her husband Scotty of Gosnell, and Patricia Higdon and her husband Jimmy of Lakeland, Florida; three sisters, Betty Sanford of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jomae Doran of New York, New York, and Dotsene Van Sickle of Piggott; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27 in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
