Doris Marie Lorren

Doris Marie Lorren, 88, of Jonesboro, widow of Clarence Lorren, passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tenn. Born in Potts Camp, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Hollis and Carrie Newsom Johnson and had been a longtime Manila area resident before making her home in Jonesboro 10 years ago. She was retired from American Greetings in Osceola and had worked for Ann's Fashions formerly of Manila. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an accomplished seamstress, pattern maker and quilter.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff Lorren and Robin Lorren, three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Wade Lorren (Regina) of Dell and Jonathan Lorren (Margaret) of Crosby, Texas; six daughters, Sandra Ann Hicks (Paul Wayne) of Manila, Jeanette Young (Joe) and Nancy Williamson, all of Jonesboro, Sheba Garrett of Cookeville, Tenn., Pamela Thompson (Ron) of Livingston, Tenn., and

Deborah Vassar (Phil) of Jonesboro; one sister, Eula Mae Underwood of Tyler, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with three grandsons, Benjamin Garrett, Eric Young and Michael Healey, officiating. Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery.

The family received visitors Saturday from noon until service time.
