Lawrence Wayne Fletcher
Lawrence Wayne Fletcher, 76, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at his home in Caraway. He was born June 29, 1941 in Black Oak, to Alston Jewell and Margaret Whitley Fletcher. He was on the Caraway Volunteer Fire Department, school board, city council, Board of Directors for the Housing Authority and a Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Fletcher of Caraway; five sons, Don Fletcher, Anthony Fletcher, both of Caraway, Shannon Kelems (Susan) of Caraway, Jason Kelems( Stacy) of Lepanto, Christopher Kelems (Jennifer) of Caraway; one daughter, Alison McFarlin (Steve) of Caraway; one sister, Glenna Brickell (Charles Wayne) of Caraway; grandchildren, Dustin Fletcher, Cassie Sheppard, Hunter Fletcher, Bradley Fletcher, Morgan Fletcher, Amber Fletcher, Michael Summers, Jennifer Saffel, Britany Kelems, Courtney Kelems, Ryan Kelems, Jacob Kelems, Timothy Tyler, Seth Tyler; several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Hannah Michelle Kelems and Bailey Delayne Kelems.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at First Baptist Church, Caraway, with Bro. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Caraway Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday Oct. 19, at the church. Pallbearers were Shannon Kelems, Christopher Kelems, Jason Kelems, Steve McFarlin, Don Fletcher and Anthony Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers were Caraway Volunteer Fire Department, Jerry Murphy, Charles Faulkner, Chuck Gean, Larry Sanders, Gary Toombs, James Toombs and Mike Brickell.
