Joseph (Joe) William Steflik, 42, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born Feb. 20, 1975, in Columbia, Mo., to Gary and Cynthia Steflik. He was a 1993 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He married Marka Earline Hughes on Dec. 12, 2005, in Jonesboro. He worked as a fast food manager and also as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and especially enjoyed playing with their four dogs, Maggie, Piper, Mortimer and Jodi. Joe enjoyed playing fantasy football and playing Destiny with his high school buddies. He was a prolific reader, music lover, and an avid Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by the love of his life-his wife, Marka; parents, Gary and Cynthia Steflik; a sister, Elizabeth (Libby) (Mike) Burdette; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Leona (Saben) Foreman and Frank and Beth (Frary) Steflik.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Joe touched are invited to a Celebration of Life visitation at Highland Drive Baptist Church Ministry Activity Center from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested consideration be given to Child’s Play Charity which seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters through the generosity and kindness of the video game industry and the power of play.
