Roosevelt Orlando Jones

Mr. Roosevelt Orlando Jones of Cameron, North Carolina and formerly of Blytheville and Westminster, Maryland, passed quietly and gently into eternal rest on Friday, August 18, 2017.

Roosevelt was born on September 24, 1931, in Easton, Maryland to the late Alvin and Gladys Jones.

He was drafted into the U. S. Army and ended his military career when he retired from the U. S. Air Force on September 1, 1974. He served in the military with honor and distinction and was stationed in Greenland, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Guam. He was also stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts, Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. Roosevelt also retired from U.S. Sprint in 1998.

Roosevelt received his early education in the Baltimore Public school System and after the military; he earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Hood College and National Lewis University. Although his first interest was electronics, he was very knowledgeable about many subjects. He was an avid reader and was interested in learning new things and could carry on a conversation about many subjects.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy McCutheon; five brothers, Mitchell, Alvin, Wilbur, Donald and Vernon.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Donna; three sons, Ralph Jones and wife, Elfie Jones of Frankenthal, Germany; Stephen Jones of Lumberton, North Carolina and Dana Jones of Reisterstown, Maryland; one daughter, Janice Jones-Branch of Owings Mills, Maryland; five brothers, Leon, Ronald, Paul, Michael and Joseph; six sisters, Virginia Fisher, Shirley Jones, Gloria Gibson, Patricia Heidelberg, Vincentia Jones and Ingrid Jones; five grandchildren, Stephen Jones, Jr., Jordan Jones, Michelle Daniel, Gisheera Jones and Dana Jones, Jr., Helen Jones and Marc Jones; two godchildren, Ronnita Jones and Martin Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also surviving are two friends of fifty years, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Taplette of Glen Burnie, Maryland and Mr. and Mrs. Erich Kopp of Germany.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at March Life Tribute Center, 5616 Old Court Road, Windsor Mill, Maryland. A private burial will be held at a later date.
