Mr. James Nathan Summitt

Mr. James Nathan Summitt, 78, of Blytheville, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Nathan was born in Cardwell, Missouri to C.E. and Rena (Burcham) Summitt. Nathan received his undergraduate degree from ASU and his Master’s in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas. He worked at Agrico Chemical Company in Blytheville and retired from there. He was an active member of Samford Church of Christ and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Faith and family were most important to Nathan. He and his beloved wife Nancy were long time members of the Samford Church of Christ in Holland, Missouri. They lovingly worked at the church teaching and serving others. Nathan led singing at the church for many years. Both Nathan and Nancy volunteered many hours at Children’s Homes, Inc. in Paragould; a place they held dear to their hearts. Both Nathan and Nancy lived their faith and loved helping others.

Nathan was especially proud of his grandchildren Trey and Summitt. He loved spending time with them and often talked fondly of them to his friends, especially his “coffee drinking buddies”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Summitt; his parents; and brother and sister, Bud Summit and Helen Kirk.

Nathan leaves his daughter, Nia Summitt Wright (Tom) of Alamo, California; a sister, Amy Lambert (Harwell) of Ironton, Missouri and two grandchildren, Trey and Summitt Wright.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 16 in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cardwell, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Children’s Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
