Jodie Brown, 79, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, in Monette. He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Delfore to the late Joe and Beulah Young Brown. Jodie was a farmer and lived all of his life in the Monette area. He was a member of the Monette United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling and hot rod cars. He was active in Buffalo Island EMS, Monette United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Shriners and Masonic Lodge. He loved his grandchildren, his family and his community.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Nikki and Allen Dewitt of Monette and Rhonda Taylor and Mike Sandifer of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren, Mary Sandifer, Sam Sandifer (Alvaro), Logan Dewitt (Rachel) and Laci Dewitt; a great-grandchild, Cameron; two sisters, Opal LaFarlette and Verna Lou Harrell and her husband David; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione Harrell Brown.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Monette United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keven Varner, Griffin Varner, Barry LaFarlette, Glenn Harrell, Dusty Harrell and Kevin Wimberley. Members of the United Methodist Church in Monette will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Monette United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
