Tommy Lynn Melton, 57, of Leachville died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Osceola, he was the son of the late Chester and Helen Green Melton and had lived most of his life in Leachville. He attended Leachville High School and later graduated from the Missouri Police Academy. Tommy spent over 20 years in law enforcement, serving on many police departments throughout northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri. He later worked several years for Adams Land Company in Leachville, retiring in 2010. Tommy loved traveling, and was an avid NASCAR fan and aviation enthusiast, following the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, The Blue Angels. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leachville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Melton, in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Melton and Jason Taylor, both of Paragould; one daughter, Michelle Melton of Bartlett, Tenn.; two brothers, Ray Melton of Monette and Yvonne Melton of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren, Connor Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Jaxton Melton and Draven Melton.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Melton, Jason Taylor, Chris Box, Darian Melton, David Cole and David Haynes.
