SC ruling expected soon on courthouse

The Arkansas Supreme Court has received as "submitted" two appeals on behalf of the county against the city of Osceola regarding the issue of holding a special election on March 14 (and earlier on August 9, 2016) to allow county voters to express their desire or rejection of a proposed new courthouse in Blytheville and the extension the current "hospital tax" from March 31, 2020 until March 31, 2047. The extended tax would be used, among other things, to finance construction of a new Blytheville courthouse costing no more than $22.5 million and offering a more permanent solution to county hospital system financing.
