Mrs. Fannora Mullins Gardner

Mrs. Fannora Mullins Gardner, 93, of Jonesboro and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at her home.

She was born on May 18, 1923 to the late Herbert and Dollie (Bunch) Mullins in Yarbro, which was named after her grandmother's family. While living most of her life in Blytheville, she was the owner of Paul D. Abbott Corporation which her late husband founded. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blytheville and later First Baptist Church with her late husband, Roland Bishop. She was an active member and served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 25-years, Chairman of Senior Citizens Group, and served committees along with her husband, the late Jim Gardner. After moving to Jonesboro, she joined Walnut Street Baptist Church and attended Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by three Christian men; and a sister, Louise Hollingsworth.

Fannora leaves a son, Dave Abbott (Gloria) of Jonesboro;

A daughter, Polly Bakker of Conway;

Four step children, Berry Bishop (Laurie) of Hot Springs, Alice Church (David) of Siloam Springs, Jeff Gardner (Donna) and Gail Green of Blytheville;

Five grandchildren, Elizabeth Poynter (Scott) of Little Rock, Betsey Bakker of Conway, Brooke Capron (Robert) of Fort Smith, Chad Cobb and Mary Kate Swindle (Brian) of Tupelo, Mississippi;

Ten great-grandchildren, Emory Poynter, Chris and Catie Durham, Ethan, Rebecca, and Andrew Capron, Jack Cobb, and Ty, Piper, and Trip Swindle;

A sister, Wanna Widner of Portageville, Missouri; and

Three nieces, Cathy Harrell (Harry), Jill Reynolds (Bob), and Pru Turner (Jerrye).

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 23 in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that you please donate to the Benevolent Fund at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1910 Scenic Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.

Pallbearers are Robert Capron, Paul Harrell, Jerrye Turner, Scott Poynter, Bob Reynolds, and Dr. Harry Harrell.
