James Mooney

James Marlin Mooney of Jonesboro departed this life Dec. 6, 2016, at his home in Jonesboro at the age of 64. He was born Aug. 8, 1952 in Jonesboro and raised in Caraway. He was the middle son of Bryan V. Mooney and Flora Louise Mooney. He graduated school from Caraway High in 1970 and was loved by many. He acquired a barber's license in North Little Rock while working nights at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock in the '70s. He was a barber for a number of years in Jonesboro, worked at Jonesboro Human Development Center, and later worked at Arkansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He also served in the Army National Guard for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan Mooney, Jr., one nephew, Bryan Moyer, and one great nephew, Jake Moyer.

He is survived by his wife Vicky (Dickerson) Mooney of Jonesboro; two daughters, Jamia Lynn Yant (Steve) of Rossville, Tenn., and Lindi Jay Mullins (Michael Scott) also of Rossville; a sister, Mae Dell Workman (David) of Como, Miss.; a brother, Terry Mooney (Lucinda) of Euless, Texas, and another brother, Barry Mooney (Ellen) of Entiat, Wash., many nieces and nephews, and his beloved chihuahua, Allyce.

Interment will be at Nettleton Cemetery in the family plot. There will be no visitation.
