David Lamar Edwards, 69, of Manila, passed from this life Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. A lifelong Manila resident, David was the son of the late Lamar and Beatrice Fleeman Edwards and was a 1965 graduate of Manila High School. As a young man he worked for the former Gene Hood Flying Service in Manila and later worked many years as a manager for Farmer's Carquest. David was an outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting, cooking, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a longtime member of the Big Lake Country Club, a committee member for the Ducks Unlimited Big Lake Chapter, and a supporter of the Herman Davis American Legion Post #197. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Love.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:45 Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.

Active pallbearers were Dennis Farmer, Bobby Tucker, James Hill, Ronald Jones, Robert Trammel, Jimmy Adams and Gene Adams. Honorary pallbearers included the Big Lake Country Club family and members of the Herman Davis American Legion Post 197.
