Barker Gee

Barker Leighton Gee, age 32, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died June 21, 2016, in Conway, Arkansas. He was born July 13, 1983, in Blytheville, Arkansas, son of E.B. Gee III of Conway, Arkansas and Melinda Barker Gee of Charleston, Missouri.

Barker Gee was a songwriter, singer and master of several instruments, with his choice being electric and acoustic guitar. He performed and recorded with various groups throughout his career.

Indie punk rock, blues, punk rock, southern indie punk rock and jazz were his favorite genres to perform. He had a loyal following of dedicated fans that not only enjoyed his music, but also his unique, kind spirit. During his travels with the various bands he belonged to he traveled to Europe, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia and the UK, sharing his unique style of music.

During his short lived career he made a great impact on the music industry with his many talents. His talents were beyond comprehension, especially coming from a small Missouri town and being a self-taught musician.

Barker also was the owner of A Man With A Van, which was a moving service for college students of San Francisco, California and the surrounding area.

He graduated from New Madrid County Central, then attended the University of Ozarks. He also attended Berkley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Everett Gee of Little Rock, Arkansas; his paternal grandparents, E.B. Gee Jr. and Rosemary Gee of Ocala, Florida; his maternal grandfather, Kelly Barker of East Prairie; his maternal grandmother, Frances Braden and maternal step grandfather, Joe Braden of Loudon, Tennessee; his step mother, Suzanne Gee of Conway, Arkansas; step sister Mary Blevins and husband Jared of Covington, Louisiana, along with their four children, Ana, Seth, Cable and Nathan; step sister Audrey Harris of Conway, Arkansas; and step grandmother Ila Blackwell, also of Conway.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. -- 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 o'clock noon on Wednesday, June 29, in the Nunnelee Chapel, with Bro. Timmy Farrenburg of New Madrid, officiating.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Chism, Zack Dees, Steve Orieola, Joseph Hunter, Jeffery Hunter, Jake Nesselrodt, Matthew Snider, Nathan Comer and Gabe Marshall.
