Effie Boren

Effie Boren, 96, of Blytheville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born to Aaron and Stella (Dobbs) Fleming, Effie was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of First Baptist Church. Effie loved to crochet, quilt, and sew, as well as do crafts and ceramics. She was a member of the Blytheville Town and Country Extension Homemakers Club. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center and participating in the Senior Citizens Olympics. She won numerous medals. Effie also loved to travel and go to the Clean Fun Club dances.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred Boren; her parents; son, Richard Boren; and grandson, Gary Minyard.

Effie leaves her children, Phyllis McCanless of Blytheville, Gene Boren and wife Debi of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Mike Boren and wife Janet of Dyersburg, Tenn;

Sister, Eloise Estrada of Brawley, Cali.;

Nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30th at 11:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Childers officiating. Burial will be private.
