Mrs. Dorothy May Perry Janet, 82, of Blytheville, died March 25, 2016, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born February 4, 1934 to Elva and Ruth Vaughn Perry in Senath, Mo. She was the granddaughter of Andrew Jefferson and Estella Jane Neighbors Vaughn of Senath and Joseph Cleveland and Verdie Evergreen Bishop Perry of Campbell, MO.

She was an area resident, coming here as a child in 1942. Dorothy was a longtime member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and served in several positions there. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as President and Vice President. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved to cook, crochet, and garden, although she did work some out of the home for the Mississippi County Assessor's office and the Mississippi County Tax Collector's office. She also had her license from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Melva Lucille Hardesty.

Mrs. Janet leaves her husband, Julius Irving Janet of the home;

Two sons, Terry Lynn (and Janice) Janet of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Jerry Wayne (and Jonette) Janet of Oak Harbor, Wa.;

Two grandsons, Joshua Janet and Jacob Janet of Broken Arrow;

One granddaughter, Julie Anna Janet of Port Angles, Wa., serving in the U.S. Coastguard;

One brother, Curtis (and Linda Lou) Perry of Dyersburg;

Two sisters, Linda Kay Sims of Manila and Stella Dawn (and Michael) Butler of Indianapolis; and

Many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends all over the country.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 28, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Carney Funeral Home.
