J.T. Tippy, 95, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born to Jack and Mary Tippy, J.T. served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Army as an artillery gunner from September 1944 to June 1946, and was a cook the last six months of service. He worked as a construction worker for P&S Construction for many years before retiring. J.T. was a member of the Lord Jesus Christ Church in Lake City. He was a dedicated volunteer at Lakeside Nursing Home in Lake City. Mr. Tippy loved to garden and bake. He would share his fresh vegetables and baked goods with everyone in the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mae Evelyn Tippy; his parents; son, Charles Tippy; and brothers, L.B., Jack, and Bobby Tippy.

J.T. leaves his children, Paul Tippy of Little Rock, Phillip Tippy of Cherokee Village, Darlene Edwards and husband Harry of Stafford, Va., and Karen Parish and husband Mike of Blytheville;

Brother, Leroy Tippy of Wilson;

Sister, Alice George of Benton Harbor, Mich.;

11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Services were Friday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home with Rev. Tony McCall officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 10:00 until the service.
