Bettye Gaines Gann Claxton, 89, left this earthly realm and entered her Heavenly home on March 4, 2016.

She was born October 3, 1926 to Roy H. and Effie Cobb Gaines of Blytheville. A farmer's daughter and farmer's wife, Bettye lived in Blytheville all of her life. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Bettye was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Pathfinders Sunday School class. Bettye married the late John E. Gann in 1945 and they were married for 45 years. Together they grew a successful farming operation, built Fairview Golf Course, and traveled and spent time with family. Later in life, Bettye married the late N.G. "Bud" Claxton. Both were avid travelers and enjoyed trips in their motor coach and meeting many people throughout their travels.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Herbert Gaines and Elton Ray Gaines; and sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Gaines.

Bettye is survived by her son, John Bruce Gann of Blytheville;

Daughter, Marla Gann Bracey and son-in-law Bill E. Bracey, Jr. of Blytheville;

Grandchildren; Ashley Jackson and husband Michael of Colorado Springs, Co., Gann Barrett, Janiece McCormick Barrett of Blytheville, and Kelley Burton and husband Kevin of Searcy;

Great-grandchildren include Shelby and John Austin Jackson, Oliva Barrett, Jake and Haley McDowell, and Kamryn and Kyle Burton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blytheville First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
