Alan Stolt, 77, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016.

Born May 26, 1938 in Pocahontas, Ark., Alan's parents were Clarence Ardy Stolt, Randolph County Sherriff, and Lucille Smith Stolt, Randolph County Clerk. Alan had one elder brother, John James Stolt, whom he admired and loved.

As a young man, Alan's passion was football. After graduating from high school he left home for Fayetteville in order to play fullback for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. After his father's death, Alan transferred to Arkansas State University in order to be closer to his mother. At Arkansas State, he played football, ran track and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. He also left behind a 100-yard-dash school record that stood for many, many years.

Alan met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Presnell, in 1965, and they raised their family together in Arkansas. Alan coached football and track for 20 years in Blytheville and Searcy, AR. He was named Coach of the Year in 1974. Alan moved his family to College Station in 1982 after accepting a position as assistant principal of A&M Consolidated High School. He later transferred to A&M Junior High School where he served as principal until he retired in 1999. No matter where he worked, Alan always felt a strong duty to create a safe, supportive environment for those in his care, including coworkers, players and students.

Alan and Bonnie enjoyed a union of 51 years, with Bonnie now surviving Alan, along with their three children: Jordan Quarles, Mike Stolt (wife Lisa), and Susan Stolt Spence (husband Jarrett). Alan and Bonnie were also blessed with eight grandchildren: Andrea Lynn Quarles, Meagan Leigh Quarles, Taylor Nicole Stolt, Ryan Thomas Stolt, Emily Anne Stolt, Grant Alan Spence, Emma Lynn Spence and Ella Maria Spence. Additionally, Alan was a great-grandfather of five, as well as a beloved uncle to his nephew and two nieces.

Alan will be remembered for his gentle disposition, selflessness, and sense of duty to all who depended on him.

Alan's life will be celebrated at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan on Saturday, February 27, 2016, beginning with visitation at noon and services following at 1 p.m.
