Retha Harpe, 85, of Lake City passed away Aug. 25, 2015 in Germantown, Tenn. She was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Black Oak to the late Andrew Jackson Mangrum and Stella Mae Porter Mangrum. Retha was retired from Methodist Hospital in Memphis and became a housewife who enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling. She was a member of the Church of Christ and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Swanson and wife Christine of Madison, Tenn.; daughter, Carolyn Stainback of Southhaven, Tenn.; sons, Harold Swanson and wife Darlene of Atoka, Tenn., and Edward Swanson of Lake City; daughter, Janice Huss and husband Douglas of Millington, Tenn.; stepsons, Greg Harpe and wife Susan of Atlanta, Ga., Mike Harpe of Ohio and Phillip Harpe of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvell Swanson; her second husband, Thomas Harpe; her brother, Roy Mangrum, and sisters, Melita and Melba.

Funeral services were graveside at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette from noon until 1:45 p.m. the day of the service.
