Larry Betts

Larry Gene Betts, age 69, of Blytheville, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his residence. Born in Gosnell, he was the son of the late Nelson and Etta Elder Betts and had been a lifelong Blytheville area resident.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired dispatcher for the Mississippi County Sheriffs Office and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, reading and building miniature log cabins and barns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Nelson Betts, B.W. Betts, Billy Betts and two sisters: Dorothy McGregor and Elizabeth Hogan.

Mr. Betts leaves his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Bobbie Dodd Betts of the home;

Three sons, Kelly Betts of Denton, Texas, Brian Betts of Blytheville, and T.J. Betts of Broomfield, Colo.;

One daughter, Terra Watkins of Blytheville;

One sister, Sherry Pflger of Redding, Pa.;

Nine grandchildren, Katie Jo Betts, Jaden Betts, Kristin Betts, Jordan Betts, Connor Betts, Alex Betts, Timmy Betts, Laura Rodriguez, and Thomas Adair.

He also leaves four great-grandchildren: Ben, Andrea, David, Jr., and Isabella.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Bytheville, with Rev. Mitchell King officiating. A eulogy will be given by Jacky Skelton.
