Jean Thompson

Jean Thompson, age 85, of Blytheville, passed from this life Monday, July 27, 2015 in Memphis. She was born in West Point, Ark. to Wayne and Corinne (Hamilton) Williams.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired school teacher at Dell and Gosnell Public Schools. When she taught at Dell, she sponsored all of the Senior trips to Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She also served as chairman of the bereavement committee, and organized all of the meals served by the church after funerals. She also supported the T.N.T. group at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson dearly loved her family and cherished spending time with them. Her family always came first, and she put them above herself. She enjoyed cooking, whether it was for her family or others. At the age of 65 she picked up the game of golf, and became an avid golfer. She would play up to 36 holes a day.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband George E. Thompson.

Survivors include her children, Jim Thompson and his wife Suzy of Denver, and Teresa Hinson and her husband Dale of Blytheville;

A brother, Derrell Williams of Searcy;

Three grandchildren, Tiffany Fisk and her husband Jonathan of Prosper, Texas, Kyle Hinson and his wife Allison of Gosnell, and Bryce Hinson and his wife Ally of Blytheville; and

Three great grandchildren, Justin Huckelberry, Josh Fisk, and Kyleigh Hinson.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, July 31, 2015 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Justin King officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
