New courthouse a poor choice

Thursday, June 4, 2015

To the Editor:

I read the article in the Blytheville Courier in which County Judge Randy Carney is pushing for 15 to 20 million dollars for a single county courthouse. Based on the results the city and county governments have achieved over the last 25 years or so I think a more appropriate facility would be a multi hole old fashioned outhouse. It could be located among the oxidation ponds to immediately process any new legislation or contracts they compile. We would also need to add space for the hospital board of directors, County sheriff Barney Cook, and Cliff Deadwood.

For all of the wasted money, p*** poor contracts, and stupid decisions these people have made that resulted in the county being overtaxed, this facility would be far more appropriate than building an expensive facility. The county could rent or buy the old Carlock facility to house the administrative functions, or better yet, move them to Osceola which is more centrally located. In the oxidation pond location this group of "county leaders" would have peace and quiet to reflect on decisions that would result in lower taxes, higher employment, and better roads, not to mention less embarrassment to the county.

Also, getting this group of conspicuous losers out of town might have a positive impact on what little population we have left.
