Elder Michael Hooks, 56, of Blytheville died May 28, 2015 at his home. He was born in Osceola, the son of Leander Hooks and Mrs. Johnie Dodds Hooks. He was a graduate of Luxora High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Philander Smith College and attended Arkansas State University.

At the time of his death, he was serving as pastor of Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Luxora, as well as Assistant Administrator of the Blytheville District of COGIC. Pastor Hooks had also completed his service as President of the Blytheville Ministerial Alliance.

He had been an employee of Wal-Mart, Riggs, coached at Luxora HIgh School and had been employed by Nucor Yamato Steel.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn Hooks of Blytheville;

His mother, Mrs. Johnie Hooks of Luxora;

Two sons, Michael (Erica) Hooks, Jr. of Jonesboro and Miles Hooks of Blytheville;

Three daughters, Ms. Davita Parks of Charlotte, N.C., Ms. Michelle Hooks of Jonesboro and Jamie Hooks of Blytheville;

Four brothers Calvin Lavonne Hooks of Jonesboro, Robert (Patricia) Hooks of Luxora, Tommie Hooks of Marietta, Ga. and Paul Hooks of Marietta, Ga.;

Seven sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Carpenter of Osceola, Ms. Rose Hooks of Marietta, Ga., Ms. Dorothy (Rickey) Taylor of Marietta, Ga., Mrs. Donna (Kerry) Chew of Luxora, Mrs. Linda Barfield of Osceola, Mrs. Freddie Thomas of Jonesboro and Mrs. Gayla (Dewayne) Mosely of Blytheville;

Two grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be Friday, June 5 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. McHaney, Reverend Odale Jones, Pastor. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 6 at First Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Odale Jones will officiate and Elder David L. Corn will deliver the eulogy. Burial will occur in Memory Gardens.
