Teens shouldn't be walking in middle of street

Friday, April 17, 2015

To the editor:

What can be done about children and teenagers deliberately walking in the middle of the street? It has gotten to a place where if you are driving, you have to risk hitting other cars, ditch, etc. to dodge or go around them.

Teenagers walk in the middle of the street and turn around and look at you as if you were in the wrong, especially teenagers who are walking to and from school. A person has to sleep on their horn to get these teenagers to move out of the street.

If police are patrolling the streets, I know that they see this going on! I have heard that the pedestrian has the right of way, but walking in the middle of the street on purpose is crazy! It seems to me it's an accident waiting to happen. I don't understand it.

Parents, talk to your children/teenagers about this. There are some crazy people out there who won't even think about dodging or going around a person to keep from hitting them. It's dangerous.
