Jessie Raymond Hill

Friday, April 10, 2015

Jessie Raymond Hill, 69, of Manila, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Manila he was the son of the late James Byron Lee and Lois Lorene Murphy Hill and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a retired bus mechanic for the Manila School District for 20 years.

If you knew Jessie you were blessed. The doors to his home were always open and it was the gathering place for many early morning shared cups of coffee and family meals. As the family grew, so did his home. He built on several additions over the years. He held and rocked every single baby that came into his home and everyone of those babies was soothed. Within a couple of minutes they were asleep on his chest with their little heads on his shoulder. Jessie truly touched everyone, and though he has gone home all those precious memories will forever remain in all of our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.

Survivors include four sons, eight daughters, four brothers and six sisters.

He also leaves 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4 Saturday, April 11, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. There are no additional services planned.

Burial will be in the Manila Cemetery.
