Terri Lynn Somerset

The world lost one of its most loving souls when Terri Lynn Somerset went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2015, at the age of 53.

Terri was born in Blytheville on Oct. 5, 1961. As a teenager, Terri moved to Hampton Roads, Virginia, which became her home sweet home.

Her husband Billy Somerset, parents Ralph Steven Henderson and Sandra Lynn Dennis, sisters Karen Kruse, Kimberly Serrati, Leslie Beatty and Jennifer Pruett, brothers Gregory and Scott Henderson, son William "Par" Sims, Jr., daughter Kristen Sims and son-in-law Shawn, granddaughters Savannah and Brooke, daughter Denise Lineberrry, step-daughter Christon Somerset and her children Nivyah, Juan, Jaydin and Jase, and many other family members and friends were often the successors of her love and kindness.

Terri loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time at the beach and at the horse stables with her granddaughters. Sisterly chatter and laughter was chicken soup for her soul. As the oldest of six siblings, she took on a nurturing role from an early age.

Her huge heart led her to improve the quality of life for many people and things. When she wasn't caring for others through her career at Tidewater Physical Therapy Inc., she was tending to plants. She loved the fresh scent of lavender and cooking with herbs from her garden.

In 2004, Terri was re-connected with her eldest daughter Denise Lineberry, 25 years after Terri made the courageous decision to place her into the loving arms of her forever family. They were always meant to meet again.

Terri's optimism was unwavering. Her faith and strength continued to shine through after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014.

Though her loving presence will be greatly missed by many, her family and friends will celebrate a life well-lived.

A memorial service for Terri will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia, 23601. Immediately following the service, visitation will take place until 5 p.m. The service may be viewed online at: http://peninsulafuneralhome.com/video/
