Betty Vaughn Rose Sims

Betty Vaughn Rose Sims, 68, of Bassett, died of heart failure on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

Born Jan. 29, 1947, in Paris, Arkansas, she was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olive MB Church in Evadale, where she was an usher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rural Vaughn and Emma Vaugh; her first husband, Hazel Rose; her second husband, James Walter Sims; her daughter, Amanda Braxton; her sisters, Emma Jean O'Neal, Margaret Vaughn and Francis Vaughn; and her brothers, James Vaughn, Leonard Vaughn, Frank Vaughn, John Vaughn and Edward Vaughn.

Mrs. Sims leaves one daughter, Frankie Vaughn of Bassett;

Three sons, James (Kim) Rose of Wilson, Rodney (Felicia) Rose of Osceola and LaRodney Rose Sims of Bassett;

Two sisters, Marie Doss of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Annie Louise-Vaughn of Bassett; and

Twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Bryant Whitted, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Wilson. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge in Burdette.
