Mattie Ruth Adams, 91, of Manila passed from this life Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born Aug. 12, 1923, in Reyno, she was the daughter of the late Robert Carry and Nannie Carroll Reagan and had lived most of her life in the Manila area. Marrying in 1940, to the late Nelson Wade Adams, she and her husband raised five sons on Milligan Ridge. She had lived in Texas and Mississippi for brief periods in the late 1950s and early 1960s but returned home to the Milligan Ridge community in 1968. She was retired from Brown Shoe Company and was a longtime member of the Milligan Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Dr. George Adams, one grandson, Greg Adams, five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her four sons, Robert Adams and wife Thelma of Milligan Ridge, Paul Adams of Milligan Ridge, Harry Adams and wife Lynda of Morgan City, Miss., and Jimmy Adams and wife Connie of Manila; daughter-in-law, Kaye Adams, of Hernando, Miss. She also leaves six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Waymon Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday from 12:30 until service time.

Pallbearers were Brian Minton, Michael Minton, Bobby Lee Barker, Dwight Jackson, Ronald Holt, Fred Greathouse and Billy Barker.
