Phyllis Salmons Bloodworth

Phyllis Salmons Bloodworth, age 65 of Van Buren, Arkansas passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at the Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born to Louis Henry and Lillie Bailey Salmons in Detroit, Michigan, she was a retired teacher from the Blytheville School System and a member of the Butterfield Assembly of God.

Phyllis possessed a great talent of making quilts. She would make quilts and give to family and friends and those in need. She was a member of the Belle Point Quilters Guild, an organization which was formed to promote the appreciation of the rich heritage of quilting, to enhance each member's own quilting skills and to enrich the art of quilting for future generations.

She was also the founding member of the Thursday Night Book Club in Van Buren. They would gather to read and listen as different books were read and discuss the various aspects of the content. As a Christian, Phyllis was strong in her faith. This faith was never more evident than in the past years when she faced death with unyielding courage, strength and fortitude.

Phyllis knew what the words service and commitment meant as she would bless others with her talents and inspire with her daily walk. The love for her family knew no boundaries or limitations.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry Bloodworth.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Aaron Bloodworth of Blytheville, Amy Peevey and husband Reed of Jonesboro, Amanda Peek and husband Andy of Blytheville, Alison Porter of Jonesboro;

Grandchildren, Dustin Bloodworth, Lealand Bloodworth, Jaxon Bloodworth, Kasen Peevey, Bailey Peevey, Owen Peek, Eli Peek, Landon Wren, Mykah Bloodworth, Bentley Porter; sisters, Lillian Goad and husband Keith of Ft. Worth, Texas, Patricia Rochier and husband Marvin of Van Buren, Arkansas, Brenda Trout and husband Geary of Farmington, Arkansas, Barbara Bossarte-Lankford and husband Tom of Van Buren, Arkansas;

Many nieces and nephews and also by a special family who held a very special place in her heart, Mary Lovelady and family of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends Friday Jan. 16, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home with funeral services, Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel.

Her pastor, Rev. Patrick Kimberland will officiate and burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
