Chapter D celebrates holidays

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

A Christmas social was held Dec. 10 in the home of Pam Blankenship, with Joanie Hess as co-hostess. Fresh greenery, berries, topiary and candles filled the entertaining areas throughout the home. Following a delicious lunch, Joyce King presented the program on Christmas memories: "Joy ... It's a Wonderful Life," quoting Clarence the angel in the Movie "It's a Wonderful Life;" "Each man's life touches so many other lives." She noted that tragic events occur in every life, that our lives can quickly tilt out of balance and that we must control the focus and look to the center of life which is the birth of Jesus Christ. Each member was presented a bell to ring and a halo to wear so they could be a "angel" for the afternoon. Joyce illustrated with supportive quotes that our Christmas focus is best illustrated by holiday author's hymns and movies sharing this thought. Members' assignments for the season were to "go tell the story" supported by quotes from the Bible's books of Matthew and John.
