Carla Reneé Wells

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, Carla Reneé Wells, 53, of Blytheville, spent her last moments on this earth in the presence of family and genuine friends who loved her very much.

Carla was a gentle spirit who easily developed friendships. This trait was so very instrumental in the accomplishments she achieved as a dedicated musician, teacher and band director at Blytheville Middle School. Her many students, friends and colleagues over the years were each individually special to her. It would be her desire today we celebrate a life well-lived and not to grieve over her departure. Her quiet dignity, forgiving spirit and courageous fortitude gave others hope, direction and courage. Memories of moments shared become remarkable treasures to each one as Blytheville loses such a talented individual.

Born to Owen Vernon and Rebecca Elizabeth Jones Wells in Blytheville, Carla was a graduate of Blytheville High School, received her bachelor's and master's degree at Arkansas State University and was completing her PhD at Ole Miss. Carla also was a member of the Arkansas Band Masters Association and the Arkansas School Orchestra and Band Association.

Her parents and brother, Gary Wells preceded her in death.

Survivors include a special friend, Tracie Marlin, of Pocahontas;

A dear friend, Karla Capaul, of Blytheville;

Her brothers, Bobby Wells of Dallas, and Michael and Melissa Wells of Grand Junction, Colorado; and

A sister, Sharon Wells of Blytheville.

Funeral services were Sunday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Fulkerson officiating. The family received friends Sunday, also at Cobb Funeral Home. In Dogwood Cemetery following the funeral services, there was a special committal service, as the cremains of her beloved brother, Gary Wells were interred with her.
