To the editor:

I'm not sure that there is an appropriate way to say thanks to thousands of people, or that this is an appropriate way to do so. Perhaps our good editor will allow me to use this forum for that purpose.

At the age of 30, with the blessing and strong support of my wife, Laurie, I returned to school to seek a law degree in pursuit of my longtime dream of being a lawyer. After graduating from law school, Laurie and I chose to return home to Mississippi County to live, work and raise our family.

Laurie and I have been partners in our law office for 36 years now. We have enjoyed it. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have represented and assisted several thousand clients during those years. We do appreciate the trust that clients placed in us. Thank you!

Since I am beginning my new job as circuit judge on Jan. 1, 2015, I will not be allowed to engage in the practice of law after the end of December. There is no need for clients to pick up files. We will be retaining our closed files, and copies of information will be available if needed in the future.

Laurie and I appreciate the opportunity to provide legal assistance to our community during the past 36 years and we thank everyone who has helped us in that effort. We also sincerely thank everyone who helped us in the race for circuit judge. We are humbled by your support.

We wish everyone the best.
