Hiram "Sharkey" Priddy

Monday, December 8, 2014

Mr. Hiram "Sharkey" Priddy, 83, of the Yarbro community, passed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at his home in Yarbro.

Born to Ed and Vera Gossage Priddy in Keiser, he was a retired ginner with the Valley Field Gin. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ. Hiram enjoyed fishing and hunting but most important in his life was spending time with family. He was a person who could be depended upon to carry out any task he put his hand to because of the tremendous work ethics so evident in his life. But one of his greatest loves was the family and friends he developed by talking on the C.B. radio. He was well-known to all as "Snowball" and will be greatly missed talking on the air.

Hiram was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jerry Lawrence Priddy and Tony Priddy; a grandson, Joe Ben Baxter III; his brothers, Billy Priddy, Willard Priddy, Leroy Priddy, Willie Ray Priddy and Mickey Priddy; and a special niece, Renee Allison.

Hiram is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Joann Doran Priddy of the home;

His children, Hiram Priddy Jr. of Steele, Lisa Priddy Baxter and Joie Middleton of Steele, and Lela Priddy Pankey of Yarbro;

His grandchildren, Buddy and Brooke Pankey of Beebe, Mason Priddy of Braggadocio, Missouri, Nicklaus Priddy of Steele, Taylor Potts of Steele, Dexter Wilhite of Beebe, Cassidy Sutterfirld of Beebe, Jennifer Lovell of Steele and Tamarin Green of Steele,

His great-grandchildren, Eddie Pankey of Steele, Corey Lovell of Steele, Annie Thomas of Steele and Madelyn Pankey of Beebe;

His sisters, Martha Jean Gray of Brooksville, Florida, Ruby Conn of Mascotte, Florida, Margaret Huggins of Ocoee, Florida, and Susie Garner of Dunnellon, Florida; and

A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Greg Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home.
