Dell Van Halfacre

Dell Van Halfacre, 82, of Manila, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the Manila Nursing Center.

Born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Luther and Alma Clark Halfacre and was a 1949 graduate of Strawberry High School. A veteran of the Korean War, Van had been a Manila resident since 1954 and was the former owner and operator of DVAN Tool and Die and Velko Inc. Van was an avid sportsman -- he loved hunting, fishing, golfing and dancing. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila.

Survivors include his wife, Calvnita Batton Halfacre, of the home;

One son, Tony Halfacre of Manila;

One daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Tommy Jacoby of Manila;

One sister, Ona Lou Husky of Saffell, Arkansas;

Five grandchildren, Bryan Craine, Dr. Corey Craine (Brooke), Stephn Halfacre (Kayla), Sarena Halfacre and Kaden Halfacre; and

Eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at the First Baptist Church in Manila with the Rev. Matt Pryor and the Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time Thursday.
