Gus Montealegre

Gus Montealegre, 68, of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

Gus loved hunting, watching the Bears, barbeques and spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar R. Montealegre.

He is survived by his children, Gina Montealegre, Eric Montealegre and Edgar (Julie) Montealegre;

His mother, Ofelia Thomas; and

His grandchildren, Stephanie Haynes, Donald Grinker and Marissa Montealegre; and

Many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at LaHayne Funeral Home in Hammond, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Hammond, with Father Larry Kew officiating. Interment will be in Saint John Cemetery in Hammond.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area.
