Clarence 'Herbert' Lucas

Clarence "Herbert" Lucas, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

He was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Marked Tree, to Clarence Edwin and Lillie Louise Hicks Lucas. Herbert received a BA in agriculture and animal husbandry. He was a farmer, mechanic and truck driver. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Imboden. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the NRA, and loved hunting and fishing.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay Maston Lucas;

A son, Clarence Herbert Lucas Jr., of Imboden;

Three daughters, Lynn (Jim) Grantham of Lufkin, Texas, Jane (Clayton) Dorris of Manila, and Jean (Mark) Anderson of Blytheville; and

Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington in Jonesboro.

Chapel services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Farmers Union, with the Rev. John Stoll officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

Tim Carter, Clayton Dorris, Alan Gaston, Terry Pope, Richard Lucas and Joe Clark will serve as active pallbearers. Herbert Lucas Jr., L.B. Aaron, James Rickman and Charles Baker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
