Health of citizens warrants new sales tax

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter is in response to William Masterson's letter to the editor, published Tuesday, June 29.

To the editor:

Wake up! The Mississippi COUNTY Hospital has been county-owned since Ameris pulled out in March 2009. I am a hospital employee and I would appreciate it greatly if you would research our situation before campaigning against something that could cost a lot of people their jobs, including mine!

Think about that long ride to Memphis when a family member has a heart attack or stroke.

We approved a tax to pay the IRS. Does the health care of our citizens not warrant $5 for every $1,000 in sales?
