James Boswell "Jim" Cheadle

James Boswell "Jim" Cheadle, 87, of Manila, the widower of Mrs. Peggy Fleeman Cheadle, died Monday July 28, 2014, at the Flo & Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in Norman, Okla., he had been a longtime Manila resident. He was a 1945 graduate of Norman High School in Norman, Okla., a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and later served in the U.S. Army reserve in Oklahoma. He was a 1954 graduate of Oklahoma University earning a masters degree in fine arts. He was a retired insurance agent and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Boswell Cheadle and by his infant children, Bradley and Loralee Cheadle.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Matthew Cheadle of Fayetteville and Stephen "Steve" Cheadle of Gassville, Ark.

He also leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service. No visitation is scheduled. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Manila for the procession to the cemetery.
