John Tune, 101, of Manila, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Jan. 6, 1913, in Keyesport, Ill., he was the son of the late Ira and Rosie Harp Tune. As a boy he moved to Missouri with his family in a covered wagon and later moved to northeast Arkansas. He had lived most of his life in Leachville and Manila, was a retired farmer, and attended the First Assembly of God in Leachville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Opal Flossy Elizabeth Masterson Tune.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Theresa Tune, Donnie and Linda Tune, Jackie and Janet Tune, and Kenneth and Patricia Tune, all of Manila; two daughters, Rosetta Brandon and husband Leon of Mountain Home and Shirley Lee Davis of Leachville; two brothers, Eddie Tune of Nashville, Tenn., and Calvin Tune of Morrilton; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Tom Newman officiating. Burial followed in Dunklin County Memorial Gardens in Kennett, Mo.

The family received friends from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
