Junior Leon "Bug" Hensley

Junior Leon "Bug" Hensley, 83, of Caraway, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 14, 1931, in Batesville to the late James and Martha "Mattie" Bolin Hensley. Mr. Hensley retired as a Greyhound bus driver after 35 years of service and formerly was a farmer, policeman and barber. He was known for his "Hensley strawberries." He loved family time and enjoyed cooking for the family. He was of the Baptist belief and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alpha Rose Reynolds Hensley; two daughters, Cynthia Barrett of Caraway and Terri Pearson of Lake City; a son, Keith Hensley and wife Paula of Caraway; seven grandchildren, Paul Barrett, Laura Smith, Amy Baker, Leah Brown, Lyndsey Gomez, Mitchell Hensley and Ben Hensley; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Andy Brice officiating. Burial followed at Caraway Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Dennis Gomez, Shawn Smith, Nick Baker, Kevin Killett, Keith Hensley and Paul Barrett. Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Hensley, Ben Hensley, Rhett Randell and David Harris.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
