Community comes through for Food Pantry

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

To the editor:

The Blytheville Food Pantry would like to say a big "thank you" to our community of north Mississippi County for the generous response when they heard we were getting very low on canned goods and dry non-perishable food items, the people of our community jumped into action. Next thing we knew we had churches, businesses, clubs and individuals bring in food and cash donations.

I would like to thank Mark Brasfield for running the story and picture about the Pantry's need, and the story he wrote titled "Hunger a problem in our own community" ... great article. I feel this is the reason for the good response to the Post Office food drive on May 10, and I want to thank the postal workers who picked up and delivered the food to the Pantry, I know it puts a lot of extra work on them.

Our community has always had a heart for giving and you came through again for the Food Pantry, thank you from the board of directors and Cindy and Lease. Also thanks to KAIT for their story.
