Capt. Bill Walker (Ret.), 83, of Blytheville, passed from this life Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville.

Born in Blytheville to Will H. and Irene Wheat Walker, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former Arkansas State Trooper and retired as a Captain in the patrol division from the Blytheville Police Department. He attended numerous police training sessions, and he was the last motorcycle officer in Blytheville. He was of the Baptist faith.

Bill earned his commercial pilot's license and enjoyed flying over Reelfoot Lake in his personal plane. He was an avid motorcycle rider who enjoyed riding with his wife, Anna Bell. He enjoyed going to flea markets, going to Branson, Mo., and building model airplanes. Bill was part owner of the Walker Park Roller Drome and was an excellent skater. He was an outstanding cook, he enjoyed people and loved doing for others. Before his retirement, he also had a paint contracting business.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Walker O'Dell.

Bill is survived by his wife, Anna Bell Garner Walker of the home;

His son, Bill Walker Jr., and wife, JoAnn, of Bartlett, Tenn.; and

His grandson Eric Walker of Millington, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Lourcey officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville.
