Bill Beach

Charles William "Bill" Beach, 68, of Manila, passed from this life, Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Aug. 31, 1945, in the family home in the Buckeye community, he was the son of the late Charles "Buck" and Wilma Hill Beach and had lived most of his life in Manila. A 1963 graduate of Manila High School, he also received a BA degree in agriculture from Arkansas State University in 1967. He was the manager for the former Hi-Germ Seed Company in Manila for several years and later taught school in the Manila Public Schools System. Bill also worked in the public relations department for the Minirth-Meier-Rice Clinic in Little Rock and later retired from Nucor-Hickman Steel in 2012.

Bill was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila. He was an avid sportsman, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time on Big Lake. He recently spoke of how he had been blessed with the opportunity to have fished for trout in the Rocky Mountains, and from the water of the White River in Arkansas, and catfish from a mudhole in Big Lake Refuge. The most exciting for Bill was to green timber hunt from the duck woods of Arkansas. For over 40 years he was able to hunt with friends such as A.W. Marshall, Terry Brewer, Jimmy DeJarnette, Kevin Prescott, Ronald Holt, Steve Shelto and many others.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Georgia Minirth Beach of Manila; two sons, Wade Beach of St. Louis, Mo., and Alan Beach of Manila; four grandchildren, Micah Beach, Luke Beach, Ethan Beach and Emily Kate Beach; two brothers, Barry Beach of Leachville and Brian Beach of Jonesboro; two sisters, Joan Simpkins of Milligan Ridge and Cherry Hicks of Leachville; two stepsisters, Debbie Imler and Deanna Beach, both of Leachville; and his stepmother, Annette Beach of Leachville.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. Burial will follow in Horner Cemetery in Hornersville, Mo. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.
