Martha Lavelle Weathers

Mrs. Martha Lavelle Weathers, 84, of Etowah, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola. Born Nov. 16, 1929, in Arkansas, she was the recorder and treasurer for Etowah City Hall and a member of Etowah Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlon Weathers; a son, Mike Weathers; a sister, Ginger Ellis; and brothers Gene Ellis, Harold Sailors and Herman Ellis.

Mrs. Weathers leaves one daughter, Carla (and Lee) Turner of Lepanto;

One son, Gary (and Sue) Weathers of Lepanto;

Six grandchildren, Jennifer Foster, Candy, Lori Beth Varnell, Brian Weathers, Bradley Weathers and Lauren Crain; and

Seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at Etowah Baptist Church. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Jerry Weathers and Bro. Danny Helms, will be held at Etowah Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014. Burial will follow at Garden Point Cemetery in Etowah. Funeral arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
