Barbara Sue Byrd Betts

Barbara Sue Byrd Betts, 65 of Steele, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at the NHC Center in Kennett.

Ms. Betts retired from Civil Service at the Eaker Air Force Base where she was employed as a secretary. She was an individual who never met a stranger because she was able to talk to anyone at any time. She also had a deep love for family, which also included her dogs. Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ernest B. and "Cricket" Marie Green Byrd.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Melessia Privett of Blytheville;

Her sisters, Martha Crump of Paragould, Cora Lee Bryant of Southaven, Miss., Ms. Rebecca Lanier of North Carolina, Linda Faye Byrd of Alaska and Tonya Haile of Illinois;

Her brothers, Roy Byrd and Robert Byrd Sr., both of Blytheville, and John Byrd of Dyersburg, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Richard Lourcey officiating. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time, also at Cobb Funeral Home.
